Whether you are visiting the region just for the day, or perhaps a bit longer, there is always something to do, see and experience.
Outdoor activities are abundant throughout the year. From golfing to swimming, bike trails to waterways, there is an activity for everyone and all levels of fitness.
For sport enthusiasts there are a number of options, from the Wesleyan College Tennis Center to theRocky Mount Sports Complex. Our Sports Complex is host to many regional and national sports tournaments throughout the year.
If you prefer indoor activities, there are several choices as well; from bowling to basketball, spinning to zumba. Throughout the year, visitors and residents have fun at our local YMCA, which has an Olympic size swimming pool and basketball courts.
Rocky Mount has its share of entertainment venues. The Dunn Center for the Performing Arts brings in national touring groups as well as providing home stage to local groups. The Imperial Centre offers a beautiful setting for enjoying a meal while children visit the Children’s Art Museum or for adults there is an Art Exhibit Hall, not to mention a theatre on sight where many educational programs take place. During the summer, there are a number of festivals that attract many young people as they are usually located right in the downtown. We have beach music festivals, cultural festivals and of course a BBQ festival.
Other things to occupy your time include shopping in our downtown area, touring historic sites such as Stonewall Manor and simply enjoying the many beautiful city parks we have. And don’t forget to come and visit us in the historic train station downtown!
