News from Edgecombe Community College September 18, 2020 Cosmetology students inspired by dream boards Edgecombe Community College Advanced Cosmetology student Crystal Dickens puts finishing touches on her dream board. This fall, Cosmetology students have been creating dream boards to inspire them to stay the course in their pursuit of educational goals. Students are completing coursework through a combination of in-person labs and online study. They use the dream boards as encouragement when they are completing online assignments. "Our students learn so much from each other, and learning in an online environment is challenging for them," says Carolyn Sherrill, Cosmetology program chair. "The dream boards are a reminder that we are all in this together." Remembering 9/11 ECC paused to observe 9/11 on September 11. The virtual event included patriotic music by Suzi Shippen-Wagner, program chair of Surgical Technology; prayer led by the Rev. Kenny Parker, ECC trustee; and comments by Carole Mehle, English instructor and chair of the Diversity and Global Connections Committee, which sponsored the observance.
