Initiative Aims to Lighten Burden for Area
Families in Need

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region, through the generosity of the Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant and the Cummins Foundation, will make life a little easier for scores of local families hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic, which has obliterated jobs and destabilized homes worldwide.
Forty Club families, identified by the organization as possessing the greatest need, will receive a full-course dinner for the next five weeks. Click here for the full story??
           
           
Local School teams up with Church to feed over 500 families
Rocky Mount Preparatory School had the opportunity to serve our community in partnership with Greater Joy Church. Together, they distributed 16,000 pounds of food to 505 families! Rocky Mount Preparatory School staff, board, families and scholars were all represented at the community food distribution. Many thanks to all of the generous volunteers! ??

  

           

 

  
Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles and our Community Paying it Forward
This week we are highlighting our community via Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles. Currently you can donate their products on their “Pay it Forward” board. Such a neat idea by our friends over at Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles on how to give back and we have an awesome community that has provided donations to our community. You can contribute to our Pay-it-Forward board by contacting Bin & Barrel Wine Bar and Bottles and let them know  who you would like to purchase something for and how much. These donations can be anonymous or you can leave your name and or organization. ?Also if you qualify for one of these gifts, make sure to drop in the shop to redeem your gift! Proper documentation will be required, and gifts of a glass of wine can be used for later use when we can serve again, or the amount can go towards a purchase of a bottle. Halo Hands Foundation offers community screening
This week we would like to highlight Halo Hands Foundations. This past Friday, Halo Hands Foundation offered free screening to the community for COVID-19. They were able to perform over 50 test at their location. We would also like to highlight our Vice President Membership Investor, Tina Garrett for agreeing to donate her time to Halo Hands.

Nash County farm donates thousands of eggs to local food pantries amid COVID-19 need
Braswell Family Farms in Nashville donated around 70,000 dozen eggs to local food banks including the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Trax Coffe Bar giving the gift of music 
Our second organization gave the gift of music to our downtown businesses. Thank you Trax Coffee Bar co-owner Marcus Anderson and their great barista Charity for bringing a little more joy to our area when it is needed. They rode downtown in a “cool ride” on a beautiful day and played some great tunes. Nash County bringing joy to all
with video parodies


This week we would like to highlight Nash County for bringing a smile to all of our faces with their creative videos.
Jonathan Edwards and his team has put together some great parodies to keep us all in good spirits.  ?Kudos to Nash County and their team for innovation and creativity.

Small Shops Marketplace donating KN95 mask’s 
Small Shops Marketplace has been donating KN95 mask’s to first responders and medical professionals. We would like to highlight them in our positive news story of the week for their dedication to our community during this time of need.

?Also, if you would like to support them, with each purchase of a mask from Small Shops Marketplace, you help them donate to those who are taking care of us all.

NCC Alum Produces Face Shield Frames for Area First Responders

Nash Community College alumnus James Simpson of Nashville, NC is doing his part to support front line workers as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Simpson used his personal three-dimensional (3-D) printer to produce more than 100 face shield frames for Nash County Emergency Services employees and friends who are serving in healthcare occupations. Click here for the full story
