Friday, January 10, 2020 Sykes Family Establishes First Responder Scholarship The Nash Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Sykes Family First Responder Scholarship in honor of Ray and Joan Sykes by their son, Brian Sykes, daughter-in-law, Melissa and grandson, Caleb. Established in December 2019, the scholarship ?will be awarded annually in the fall semester to students enrolled in first responder programs such as the Fire, Basic Law Enforcement Training, EMT and Dispatch academies. DeLeon Carter Foundation Continues Support of NCC Vet Tech Program A recent contribution by the DeLeon Carter Foundation will provide support for the Myrtle Carter Henry Scholarship. Established in 2015 by the DeLeon Carter Foundation, the scholarship honors the memory of Myrtle Carter Henry. In 2018, the DeLeon Carter Foundation renamed the scholarship as the Myrtle Carter Henry Veterinary Technology Scholarship. The scholarship is available to students enrolled in the Nash Community College Veterinary Medical Technology program. Since the partnership began in 2001 with NCC, the Foundation has made an impact on the local area with the Myrtle Carter Henry Amphitheater, a fountain, and the digital marquee located at NCC. Engineering Students Show Off High Level of Skill and Creativity Nash Community College Engineering students, under the direction of instructor John Eubanks, held a BOE-BOT robotics contest in December showing off their skill and creativity. With an increased interest in robotics in the engineering industry, EGR 150 introduces NCC students to robotics. Students are challenged to design robot navigation schemes which are judged during the robotics contest. ?The winners were: First Place – Gary Barbour (center); Second Place – Morgan Hicks (right); Third Place – Dakota Heatherly (left). Engineering Students Show Off High Level of Skill and Creativity
Nash Community College Engineering students, under the direction of instructor John Eubanks, held a BOE-BOT robotics contest in December showing off their skill and creativity.
