Friday, October 18, 2019 NCC PLANS BOUNTY & BARREL FOOD AND WINE EVENT Make plans to join Debbie’s Fund and Nash Community College for Bounty and Barrel on Thursday, November 14 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the college’s Business and Industry Center. Debbie’s Fund was established as a memorial tribute to Debbie Kornegay, her legacy, passion for cooking, ministry of service, and commitment to education, and has impacted many lives throughout North Carolina. Sponsored by On the Square of Tarboro, Bounty and Barrel will begin promptly with an educational wine pairing provided by owner Inez Ribustello. Attendees will sample five carefully selected wines, while enjoying a culinary showcase featuring North Carolina Shrimp & Grits, Braised Beef Ribs, Ragu di Corte, Chicken Shawarma Skewers and Braised Japanese Eggplant with a passed dessert of Glazed Nash Blueberry Cake Waffles prepared and served by NCC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management students. Read More. SHARON BARNHILL RECEIVES STAFF AWARD Nash Community College has announced Sharon Barnhill as the 2020 J. Edgar and Peggie T. Moore Staff Award recipient. Selected by her peers, Barnhill will represent NCC among staff from other colleges at the North Carolina Community College System as a nominee for the 2020 North Carolina Community College System Staff Award. In her nomination letter, Barnhill is described as demonstrating a deep understanding of the specialized needs of community college students. She shows daily commitment to the mission of the college in her role as Single Stop Assistant. Read More. GLOBAL SCHOLARS VISIT DC The Nash Community College Global Scholars program hosted a trip to Washington, D.C. on Friday, October 4. Students, faculty and community members visited the National African American History Museum, the national monuments, and various Smithsonian museums during their visit. “We were very excited to take students to the National African American History Museum this year,” Eva Williams, faculty advisor for the NCC Global Scholars program said. “This museum has been on our list for some time and we were finally able to access group tickets. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to explore the local, national, and global implications of a major piece of our nation’s history.” Read More.
