Jeff Jones, Coastal Credit Union’s VP of Corporate Strategy & Political Affairs, has announced his plan to retire, effective June 30th After graduation from N.C. State University, Jeff began his career with Coastal in 1978. He remained here until 1985 when he left to lead Freedom Credit Union in Rocky Mount. Jeff served as the President & CEO of Freedom until 2016, when he rejoined the Coastal family through the Freedom / Coastal merger, which he was instrumental in facilitating. Since his return, Jeff has worked to further Coastal’s political involvement, and revitalized our Political Action Committee. He has also served on the board of directors of the Coastal Credit Union Foundation. Over the years, Jeff has also volunteered in various credit union movement capacities, both in North Carolina and nationally. Most significant to Jeff has been his 28 years of service as a director of the NC Credit Union League and its successor organization, the Carolinas Credit Union League. In 1987, Jeff was honored as the Credit Union Person of the Year by the North Carolina Credit Union League, and in 2003 he received that organization’s Mark of Excellence Award.
