Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region's premier youth leadership program, honoring extraordinary young people and achievements in leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. This year we have three Youth of the Year candidates. Nathan Sherrod, a senior at Tarboro High School. Donte' McQueen and Zion Hill, juniors at Rocky Mount High School. The event will be held on Thursday, March 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Booker T Washington Theater as we crown one of our members with the highest honor a club member can receive, Youth of the Year. This year our guest speaker is Leonardo Williams. Leonardo Williams, a Councilman for the City of Durham, the Chief Strategy Officer and Founder of the PHASE 3 Group, Inc. Mr. Williams’ professional experience spans from education to entrepreneurship. As a two-time Teacher of the Year to a successful small business owner, he generated collective action for community development and a robust small business support apparatus. Shyheim Battle, a BGCTRR Alumni, and a N.C. State student and football player, will be present to give words of encouragement to our candidates. Click here to RSVP.
