News from Edgecombe Community College ECC to offer speed enforcement training Edgecombe Community College is adding Speed Measuring Instrument Training to its law enforcement certification programs. The new program covers both initial certification and recertification for law enforcement officers. Speed enforcement is a tool used to prevent drivers from exceeding the posted speed limit. According to the National Safety Council, speeding was a factor in 26 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2019, killing 9,478 people, or an average of 25 a day. Cate Valentino, product training specialist with Newline, recently provided in-person training on the new devices and led training sessions on both the Tarboro and Rocky Mount campuses.
