IMPORTANT: Employers / Schools / Organizations Requiring Negative COVID Test Results for Return to Work / School: We have seen a significant increase in people coming to the Emergency Department to be tested for COVID-19 so that they can return to work or school (but do not have symptoms and are not seeking medical care). Please note that the Emergency Department does not offer COVID-19 testing to asymptomatic persons seeking only that testing. Patients are informed of this upon arrival. If they request to be tested at the Emergency Department, that requires full registration and medical evaluation, which results in Emergency Department and medical provider charges. There are many other testing options in our community that are much more cost effective to the patient and their employer, and a more appropriate setting for that type of service. Please see attached, and/or visit the NC DHHS COVID Testing Locator. Please share with your employees / networks to keep your medical costs low, and to help us ensure your community’s Emergency Department can provide emergency medical care to those who need it most.
