The initiative was started by the Xerces Society and Bee Campus USA to encourage people to reduce the number of times they mow to allow grass and flowers to bloom so pollinators can feed. It also helps reduce water use. As a Bee Campus USA affiliate, NCC has set aside parts of the campus for No Mow May. We reached out to our science partners at Nashville Elementary and they agreed to set aside some of their lawn to participate as well! NCC also has a Campus Pollinator Habitat Plan featuring locally native, pollinator-friendly plants and a least toxic integrated pest management plan. The college hosts annual events to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators and sponsors student service projects to enhance pollinator habitats on and off-campus. NCC biennially offers a pollinator protection course and incorporates pollinator protection topics into the curriculum. Copyright © 2021 Nash Community College. All Rights Reserved.
