PEAK Series Begins Next Week!

The NC State 4-H Council proudly presents this series of virtual programs. 4-H PEAK programs were designed and led by State 4-H Council members. Programs start on February 15th and run through July 9th, 2021. Here’s some of the session titles: Showing Animals. The 4-H Pet Parade, 4-H Goes Red: Get Your Blood Pumping, Dr. Seuss Day, Theatre Magic – Kahoot! Challenge. Hip Hop 4-H Style: Line Dancing, Earth Day – Keeping it Green, Many Voice and Many Stories. Spring Nature Adventures With NC 4-H Camps

Do you need a break? Let the North Carolina 4-H Camping Centers help you! Nature Adventures is a free virtual learning program aligned with NC Standard Course of Study (Grades 2 through 7) teaching standards provided for educators and families. 4-H Embryology: The Study of Life In Home Project

This is a long standing 4-H program that provides children, of all ages, a hands-on experience in the incubation period and hatching of chickens. The incubation period takes a total of 21 days for the chicks to hatch. Twelve fertile eggs, along with an incubator, and complete instructions will be picked up to the registered child/parent on an assigned date. Healthy Food Access

Farmers, community aid organizations, local governments and other partners around the region need your input. There is a Healthy Food Access effort underway to better understand your family and community needs regarding food. The project goal is to identify needs and opportunities for increasing access to healthy, local food in the Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Northampton and Wilson counties. We want to hear from you! It only takes a few minutes to make a big impact. Home Food Preservation Classes

This year we will have 5 Home Food Preservation Classes and you can come to all of them or pick the ones you prefer to attend. All classes will be offered at two different times, a morning program from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and an evening class from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm - simply pick the time that is most convenient to you. Classes include Introduction to Canning, Canning Sweet Spreads, Fermentation, Boiling Water Canning and Pressure Canning. These classes will be hands-on - meaning you can participate at home.
