Media Contact: Tameka Kenan-Norman Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (252) 972-1333 email@example.com FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb. 18, 2019 Jesus Christ Superstar coming to Imperial Centre Rocky Mount, N.C. -- Local actors will bring a well-known play to the Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences this spring. Jesus Christ Superstar, a timeless rock/opera classic, will run consecutive weeks in March at the Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences. The cast is made up of more than 40 local actors, ranging in age from pre-teen to their 60s. Artistic and Managing Director Brooke Edwards said the time is right to perform the show in Rocky Mount as Jesus Christ Superstar continues a wave of popularity following a live production of the show in 2018 on NBC. Jesus Christ Superstar typically is based on the final week of Jesus’ life and deals with themes regarding betrayal, truth and love. Edwards, who will direct the shows, said the upcoming shows will deal with similar themes but in modern terms. “I love the great mix of people we get who work together,” Edwards said. “It’s truly a community effort, and we have a lot of talent in this area.” Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on March 8-9 and at 2 p.m. on March 10. The curtain lowers at 7:30 p.m. on March 15-16 and at 2 p.m. on March 17. Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and students with ID and $7 for youth 12 and under.
