Friendly competition, lots of variety and a supportive environment means active living and recreation is fun again. It also makes for a healthier lifestyle and a good story or two. The Y believes in incorporating the values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into all of our youth programs. These traits help children to succeed in life and within their recreational activities. The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. The benefits are far greater than just physical health. April 23rd kicks off the Y’s spring t-ball session of their Tots Play Program, which just launched last year. Tots Play is focused on introducing the concept of sports to the toddlers. This program is created specifically for all children ages two to four years old. Each weekly lesson is designed with age appropriate skill level and developmental growth. The curriculum will also include many unique and fun activities to capture their attention and develop their love and excitement for various sports and activities. May 3rd is our next Friday Fun Night! This Friday Fun Night will be Kickball & a Picnic from 5-8 pm on the Y’s soccer field! Come out for a fun game of kickball with your family! This event is free for everyone and you can bring your own picnic dinners and blankets or chairs. Some snacks and yard games will be available as well. Be sure to check out all of our Friday Fun Nights throughout the year including other themed Parents’ Nights Out and Family Nights! We also offer fun gymnastics events to engage and encourage gymnastics to continue enhancing their skills and have fun together. Our next Open Gym will be held on May 11th from 10-12 pm and is an excellent opportunity for gymnasts to practice skills learned in a safe environment and at their own pace. The Y offers various year round programs as well with new sessions beginning each season. Some of these include group and private swim lessons, a competitive swim team, recreational gymnastics, gymnastics competitive team, martial arts, and various sports. To register for a Y youth or family program, please visit us online at harrisonfamilyy.org. Financial assistance is always available to those who apply and qualify. Annual Campaign funds are raised each year by the community to help provide this opportunity.
