OCTOBER HAPPENINGS View online version Steve Love Art Exhibit & Reception Exhibit: October 1-31 Reception: Thursday October 4th from 5:30-7PM $25 off of any painting during reception Steve Love moved to eastern North Carolina in the 3rd grade. After graduating from Rocky Mount Senior High in 1977, he left for college in the mountains of North Carolina to attend Lees McRae. Banner Elk left Steve with long term memories and sights he will never forget. After transferring to NC State to continue his education, and living in Raleigh for 20 years, Steve & his wife made a decision to return home to raise their children in small town Rocky Mount. It is here they have had a wonderful time raising their kids and enjoying all that eastern NC has to offer. Watching his mom, Phyllis Love, paint for the last 20 years and seeing how much joy it brought to her, is what inspired Steve to start painting October of 2013. His style has been greatly influenced by the work of Tracy Bell and Fen Rascoe. Also Steve’s good friend, Nancy McClure, owner of Art Source in North Hills, also inspired him to take up painting. Brent Wiggins (Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar) grew up in Wilson County. He’s been singing since he can remember. “Do You Know the Muffin Man” at age 3, was his first big hit. Starting on an old Sears & Roebuck guitar at 13, he has explored a variety of instruments including violin, piano, pipe organ, mandolin and banjo. His interest in acoustic music has led him to play in multiple bands and continues to fuel his love for music. John Dudley (Banjo, Guitar, Vocals) grew up in eastern Mississippi and began to learn bluegrass banjo and guitar in his teens. Though bluegrass wasn't in the family, his mother, a piano teacher and cousin, who played guitar, were strong musical influences. He has played in several bands over the years, playing now with Damascus Ridge and The Hey Brothers. Ronnie Parrish (Acoustic Bass), of Eastern NC, lays down the bass line for Shannon Baker and Sometime Soon. His old time bluegrass and classic country styles blend together to bring a solid foundation to the unique sound this group is known for.
