The commencement ceremony was held in the Black Box Theater at Rocky Mount High School and honored graduates from five different schools. Nash Central High School had six graduates, Northern Nash High School had nine graduates and Rocky Mount High School had seven graduates. Southern Nash High School and Tar River Academy both had four graduates. Rocky Mount High School Principal Daniel Colvin welcomed the guests to the event and introduced the board members, NRMPS administrators and special guests. Jabaris Walker, Rocky Mount High School alumnus and US Army veteran, served as the commencement speaker. “Don’t ever let anyone put you in a box. You can do whatever you want to do and be whoever you want to be, but you must believe in yourself before it can happen,” Walker said. Superintendent Dr. Shelton Jefferies was in attendance and conferred the diplomas during the ceremony. “These graduates exhibit determination and dedication and have persevered to reach this point of their educational journey.
