The free event will be held every other Tuesday at 10 a.m. at various parks throughout the city. Popsicles and Stories in the Park locations are: South Rocky Mount Community Center at 719 Recreation Dr. on June 12; Hornbeam Park at 150 Cunningham Dr. on June 26; Buck Leonard Park at 929 S. Grace St. on July 10; Stith-Talbert Park at 729 Pennsylvania Ave. on July 24; Three Sisters Park at 221 Walter Dr. in Battleboro on Aug. 7 and Sunset Park at 1550 River Dr. on August 21. “We really wanted to engage and encourage youth to continue reading during the summer, and this program is a fun way to do that,” said Emily Randell, recreation services supervisor for the city. “Staff members and volunteers from the library will be our guest readers.” The family-friendly event is for children of all ages and includes games, stories and free popsicles!
