The Tar Heel Newsletter - North Carolina District Office - May 2018 Small Business Week Recap North Carolina's Small Business Week was a huge success. North Carolina small business award winners were honored at the Carolina Small Business Development Fund's award ceremony in Raleigh, NC on May 3rd. SBA's Administrator Linda McMahon was the keynote speaker. She highlighted the importance of supporting our small business community and championed SBA's vital role in providing programs and services to startups and growing businesses. The North Carolina District Office is proud to honor Andrew Matroni, the 2018 SBA North Carolina Small Business Person of the Year! Andrew is CEO of Queen City Catering (QCC) in Charlotte, NC, and received an SBA 504 loan through BEFCOR. The SBA loan package enabled QCC to consolidate two separate leased spaces into one extensively renovated and upscale building with almost 10,000 sq. ft. in 2016. Andrew's company now has almost $3 million in revenues and 130 full-time and part-time staff. Administrator McMahon celebrated National Small Business Week in Raleigh, NC by participating in several events throughout the day and visited a local small business, Triangle Rock Club (TRC), in north Raleigh. A rock climbing gym, TRC is owned by the 2014 North Carolina Small Business Persons of the Year (Joel Graybeal and Andrew Kratz) and is a three-time recipient of 504 loans and a 7(a) loan as it has expanded to include five locations. Administrator McMahon wrapped up her North Carolina NSBW Tour with a town hall at the North Carolina Rural Center. National Federation of Independent Business State Director Gregg Thompson moderated the discussion with Administrator McMahon and Lt. Gov. Forest before an audience of about 60.
