Sports include baseball, softball and soccer. Soccer and baseball/T-ball are offered for children as young as ages 3 to 6. All sports are available for children ages 7 to 12. The deadline for registration is Feb. 23, 2018. The cost for each sport varies. “Our youth athletics are great opportunities for children of all ages and any experience level to get out and be active,” said Chris Koufopoulos, athletic program specialist for the city of Rocky Mount. “We try to offer programming that suits everybody’s needs.” All three sports are sanctioned through different organizations, including Little League for baseball, Babe Ruth for softball and the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association for soccer. Sanctioning provides resources for coaches and additional insurance for players. There is also potential for all-stars tournaments with the sanctioning body. Registration forms are available online at rockymountnc.gov/parks under the Athletics tab. Forms may be completed online, mailed in, or brought to the R.M.
