Rocky Mount, N.C. –The 46th annual city of Rocky Mount Independence Celebration will take place at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex Monday, July 3 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., starting with music and concluding with fireworks. The event kicks off with Swivel Hip taking the stage at 6 p.m. followed by local resident Dina Davis of Battleboro. Davis will sing the National Anthem. There will also be an opportunity to honor veterans and active military personnel. The band, Charlie, closes out the stage portion of the event, with fireworks starting around 9:15 p.m. “We’re hoping everyone will come out for a family-friendly good time,” says Susan Phelps, special events coordinator for the city of Rocky Mount. “It’s a great way to celebrate our country’s freedom and our city’s 150th anniversary.” Inflatables will be on hand to help keep younger guests entertained, and food vendors will be on site selling their delicacies.
